Hey all! Going on a quick rant here for a second in saying that I thought 2021 sucked way more than 2020. In a way, I'm glad they're both over. Onward and upward as we toast this new year of 2022.
That said, even though I didn't hit the theaters as much as I would've liked, I really enjoyed a good number of movies this year ... especially heading into November and December. And, get this, not one, but two Nick Cage movies made the list!!! Wha???!!!! Yaaaa!!!!!
Also, please, don't forget to give my twitter feed some love! So, without further adieu ....
Eimer's Best Movie Experiences of 2021 ... 👍🏻
'#TheHumans ': Dare I call this haunting, unsettling, awkward, yet fascinating, dialogue-heavy film study of life, death, love & the human condition during a Thanksgiving dinner party in a ripped-up New York tenement a supernatural horror movie? 😨😕😲😉 pic.twitter.com/mvYZLuriQo

'#BeingTheRicardos ': A great ensemble (Kidman, Bardem, more!) brilliantly unites for a behind-the-scenes peak into a tumultuous week of shooting an 'I Love Lucy' episode, complete with rapid-fire dialogue and brisk pace from writer/director Aaron Sorkin pic.twitter.com/yeJiDLEQwT
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) December 28, 2021
'#MitchellsVsTheMachines ': A must-see, heart-warming Robopocalypse 🤖💀😂romp for all ages w/ clever creative animated touches & design elements inspired by the folks who brought you 'Gravity Falls' and 'Into the Spiderverse' pic.twitter.com/AFjK8idOuo
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) December 15, 2021
'#TenetMovie ': Christopher Nolan writes and directs the most Christopher Nolan movie in his oeuvre with smart, time-bending sci-fi, a dizzying storyline, and meticulous action and SFX that will have you ruminating for weeks, months, maybe even years pic.twitter.com/nkv45j7t2p

'#DontLookUp ': An all-star cast comes together to create an amusingly timely, extremely ironic, apropos political & social stinging end-of-the-world satire from Dir. McKay which rekindled memories of 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World' but w/ added government tomfoolery pic.twitter.com/hudJll1HeF
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) December 28, 2021
'#TheGreenKnight ': Dir. David Lowery channels his inner T. Malick and P. Jackson to successfully conjure up the classic Sir Gaiwan story on the silver screen ... with lush, alluring cinematography to complement the tale pic.twitter.com/9NwlrvUYdw
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) October 27, 2021
'#PigMovie ': JOHN WICK meets FIRST COW w/ a little FIGHT CLUB in this beautifully gritty, intentionally muted, directorial debut by Sarnoski with a melancholy subdued Cage taking center stage as a Oregon recluse searching for his stolen truffle pig in Portland 🍄🐷😡☹️ pic.twitter.com/l9PjsiFWMX
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) August 22, 2021
'#JungleFilm ': Based on a true story, it's 'INTO THE WILD in the Amazon' as Radcliffe turns in a convincing performance as an adventurous nomad seeking wanderlust in the jungle, but gets more than he bargained for as he clings to survival in the lungs of the earth 🌴🐍💀 pic.twitter.com/CXjVKXoZuU
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) July 20, 2021
'#Wolfwalkers ': Wow, such a creatively sound, beautifully art-directed, non-Disney movie centering around the culling of wolves in Ireland (while under English rule) features lush landscapes and original storytelling that only an independent animation shop could tell pic.twitter.com/FwEl0ePpyH
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) February 15, 2021
'#Nomadland ': Dir. Chloé Zhao and McDormand take us on a thought-provoking, melancholy, existential road trip which highlights the lows (recession, aging, loneliness) and highs (nature, family, friendships) of our imperfectly splendid United States pic.twitter.com/PqsERgS5kC
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) February 23, 2021
'#WillysWonderland ': This 'Five Nights at Freddy'ish animatronic b-movie could possibly be one the most entertaining horror films of the year, complete with cheesy acting, fun original SFX, and pinball-loving Nic Cage literally not uttering a single word of dialogue 🤖💀👏 pic.twitter.com/fADg0NwBb2
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) April 12, 2021
'#TheFatherMovie ': Ingenious filmmaking, stellar editing, and fantastic acting comes together to offer an exceptionally unique, mind-bending glimpse of what it must be like to live with the horror of Alzheimer's and/or dementia pic.twitter.com/WiMVI8z8rk

And, Eimer's Worst Movie Experiences of 2021 ... 👎🏻
'#31Movie ': With erratic editing, flimsy dialogue, and meh acting - send in the clowns on this Rob Zombie horror flick that felt more like a poor man's, incoherent mess of a Hunger Games wannabe pic.twitter.com/L9JJXniM4z
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) May 3, 2021
'#WrongTurnFilm ': You're better off searching out the 2003 horror film of the same name because this #AppalachianTrail fright flick was fraught with a convoluted and confusing plot and - with references of hunting moose and elk in Virginia - terribly written pic.twitter.com/weYSy37GwJ
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) May 6, 2021
'#InTheEarthMovie ': It feels like Ben Wheatley ate a big bag of nasty-ass shrooms 🍄 to come up with this 'Fungi-Infested-'Annihilation'-'Antichrist'- Nature-Hates-You' mishmash, which permanently planted the seed of truth that I'm just not that big a fan of his films 🌿🌳🤮👎 pic.twitter.com/2QTYiu0u8y
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) May 12, 2021
#ArmyOfTheDead ": Had high hopes for an Ocean's 11-esque, balls-to-the-wall, Viva Las Vegas-style, hyper-kinetic zombie horror romp, but instead sat through an over-bloated (2.5 hours!!), over-plotted (2 species of zombies??!), convoluted piece of rotten zombie meat 💀☠️🤮 pic.twitter.com/TysBZJpFQa
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) May 25, 2021
'#WomanInTheWindow ': Draw the shades on this predictable, paint-by-numbers thriller, which borrowed a bit too much from Hitchcock's 'Rear Window', De Palma's 'Body Double' and 'Disturbia' 🙅♀️🪟🩸 pic.twitter.com/O84WWPKDV4
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) June 2, 2021
'#spiralmovie ': This homage to the SAW franchise had some good booby traps, but the so-so acting, predictable ending, odd editing choices and ideology flaw of the originals (not enough time to make a choice before being killed) sort of sliced up the whole experience for me pic.twitter.com/MrEyItsUqF
— 1SentenceMovieReview (@EimerFilmReview) October 18, 2021
'#GodzillaVsKong ': CGI puke 🤮 combined with a ridiculous plot and sleepwalking actors makes for two hours of meh lizard 🦎 battling meh ape 🦍 battling meh robot 🤖 and my twitchy thumb hovering over the 'stop' button ⏹️ of my remote control pic.twitter.com/xKNMHFlhuW
